This is a good opportunity to try your hand with the ultra fine yarn and needles. Be patient, once you have 6 or 8 rows to hold onto, it gets easier.

You will need a spool of 2/28 Ultra Fine Merino, 3 stitch holders (safety pins), 3 buttons and a pair of size #00000 needles.

The directions are for the 15-16" size. Use the numbers in parentheses for the 11.5" size.

Gauge: 20 sts = 1", 22 rows = 1"

Wind off about 20 yards of yarn onto another spool and set aside.

Front
Cast on 50 (36) sts. Work in K1, P1 ribbing for 6 (4) rows. K the next row, Increasing 10 (6) sts evenly spaced across the row. P 1 row. Continue in stockinette stitch for 50 (36) rows, or until the piece measures 2 1/2" (1 3/4") from the beginning. Bind off 3 (2) sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows. Decrease 1 st at each edge on the next 2 (1) K rows. 50 (36) sts remain. Continue for 29 (21) rows. Next row, K20 (14), place the next 10 (6) sts on a holder, attach the other spool of yarn and K20 (14). Continue with 2 spools and P 1 row. *K 1 row, decreasing 1 st at each neck edge. Work 4 rows, continuing to K the 3 sts at each side of the back opening edge on the P rows. Bind off 3 (2) sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows. Decrease 1 st at each edge on the next 2 (1) K rows. 27 (20) sts remain in each section. Work 4 rows. Make a buttonhole on the next two rows: K27 (20), K2, bind off 2, K23 (16).
